Alexandra Maria Lara was born in Romania. She is a Romanian/German actress. Her most famous films are Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. As the only children of Romanian acting star Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra got into showbiz early and landed up playing lead roles in different television dramas by the time she turned 16. Following her highly acclaimed performance in the television film Der Tunnel, Alexandra went on to play other noteworthy roles such as Adolf Hitler's secretary, Traudljunge, as well as the secretary of Adolf Hitler in Downfall. The film received nominations for an Oscar and was a critical as well as commercial great success. The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex are also Oscar nominees featuring the divas. Alexandra is well-known for her participation in a variety of important projects in both the US and internationally. They include the British biographical films Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time and the French historic miniseries Napoleon as well as other miniseries. She was also an active member of the Cannes Film Festival jury and Transylvania International Film Festival.
